Where It All Began

 

Hayes Jewelers opened in 1939 when Delmar Hayes started a small neighborhood jewelry shop in Lexington, NC. His focus was simple: treat people like family and offer honest craftsmanship. That spirit still lives at the heart of the store today.

Three Generations, One Family Business

 

After college, Delmar’s son Bruce Hayes spent time in New York City with Keepsake Diamonds before returning home to join the business. His experience earned him the nickname “The King of Diamonds,” and he led the store’s growth into one of the Southeast’s largest diamond destinations.

Bruce’s son Zack Hayes joined in 1983 after graduating from Wake Forest University and becoming a Graduate Gemologist through the Gemological Institute of America. His advanced training in diamonds, colored stones, and repair continues to keep Hayes Jewelers rooted in skill, quality, and true expertise.

Today, the Hayes family still runs the business — three generations strong.
